Welcome to Impressive Staging!
Staging is the art of getting your home ready to appeal to the broadest market of potential buyers. It is different from interior decorating because it is not about achieving a look for a specific style or taste. What you are trying to do, is make the home less taste specific, more neutral. Many times it is a matter of depersonalizing the home so that a potential buyer can see themselves living there and making it their own.
A Little About Cathi Durkin
Cathi Durkin is the owner of Impressive Staging , and has been decorating homes for years. This includes four of her own, which all sold quickly, for the asking price. This at a time when many comparable homes sat on the market unsold for months; resulting in price reductions, some being pulled from the market and others going into foreclosure.
Cathi has decorated and de-cluttered many friends’ homes with the same result…. with her other friends saying, “Please do mine now!”
In Cathi’s former life she was a flight attendant for 17 years. She was able to travel and see different styles of design and meet wonderful people from all around the world. This has given her the confidence and experience to feel comfortable in just about any situation. South Florida has been Cathi’s home for two years. She lives with her husband, three sons and a menagerie of animals.
A Declining Market
South Florida is very much a buyers’ market. If your home does not make a good first impression buyers will move on and you will be forgotten with the many other homes that have been sitting for months. Staging your home so that potential buyers don’t see it as something they will have to put a lot of work and money into is extremely important. Most buyers want a “move-in, ready” home. They do not want to pay a premium for your home and then turn around and have to ‘fix it up”. If they see your home in this light it will result in no offer or a much lower offer than you would like.
Spending a little money now on your home will pay off in the long run in the higher offers you receive and the shorter time your house will sit on the market. You want your house to stand out in this over saturated market. Having house hunted in this market not so long ago I feel confident I know what buyers are looking for.
What’s First?
When you call, Impressive Staging will set up a two-hour consultation. In that time I will provide you with suggestions, starting with the outside, to get your house in top selling condition. We will go room-by-room and you will get detailed information on what needs to be done and where. If there is time and if possible, some things can be done on the spot. For example, Impressive Staging can rearrange furniture to places it is better suited for.
When Impressive Staging is finished, you will have all the knowledge needed to prepare your home and make buyers remember it! At that time you can decide to do the work yourself or have me help. It’s that easy!
