About Karen’s Finishing Touches
Karen has been in the interior design and decorating industry for over 15 years. She is also a graduate of the Staging Diva® training program.
Karen takes great pride and sense of accomplishment with all her projects both large and small. She takes into consideration all the varied facets of each project. Utilizing existing furniture, fixtures where economically feasible, and introduce a fresh look with in budget.
Everyone’s tastes are varied, however when staging a home to sell, Karen focuses on the potential buyers ability to see a clean slate that could easily accommodate their life style and family. It could be as easy as a quick decluttering, organize and paint touch up, to a more extensive kitchen and bathroom update. This process can be very difficult at first for clients living within the home, as they are used to having things at their fingertips and are unable to personalize their home. Karen works with the family and takes great care in packing up and moving their prized possessions. She focuses on the final outcome, getting top dollar in a timely manner for their home, so they can financially and quickly move on to the next stage in their lives.
Where to Begin
The process begins with a in-home consultation which takes approximately 2 hours.
With this, a detailed written report of each room will give you suggestions for any
enhancements Karen feels will be of benefit to your home.

What others say about Karen’s Finishing Touches
I am probably one of many satisfied customers of Karen’s Finishing Touches. She has done two very different but very successful projects for me. The first project was a ski condo that was built in the late eighties. This project had a medium sized budget but large expectations. The property had to be taken down to the drywall and cement, repainted, new flooring, furniture and fixtures. This was a 2 bath 3 bedroom condo with what I considered had to be unsalvageable furniture and fixtures. What impressed me the most was her ability to utilize and update some of the existing fixtures and furnishings. This not only gave me the new look I desired but allowed me to spend more money on the final finishings instead of cabinetry and furniture. When the project was finished it was on time and turn-key. I thought I was in the wrong unit.
The second project was a staging to sell my principal residence. This budget was significantly smaller and a much tighter timeline. Again this project was on time, turn key and within one week my property sold for over $100,000 more than any home in my neighbourhood.
Karen ensures that when she is working on the project her focus is not only on the job at hand, but she also keeps in mind of the families’ schedules and needs, and tries to ensure that the majority of the work does not interfere with their lifestyle. I would not only recommend her services but will definitely be utilizing her services in the future.

Before

Before, dated 1980s style. Updated flooring and removed Florida ceiling. Added an island and new stainless steel appliances to give the room a workable, modern feel.

Before, an unusable, outdated space. By painting melamine cupboards, adding a wine fridge, a slate top, and a gantry, this piece of furniture has a purpose.

Before, very dated, 80s style. The changes that went into this room, which include a Brazilian cherry floor, painted spindles, stained railing, new carpet, added lighting, and new wall colour gave this a very inviting entrance to the home.
