Welcome to That First Impression LLC, southern Maine’s foremost home staging and interior redesign company. This company knows there is never a second chance to create that first impression.

That First Impression makes the homeowner’s selling experience as stress free, short lived and profitable as possible. Whether it is staging a home to sell, or redesigning a room for personal pleasure or more optimum functionality, That First Impression consistently delivers results with enthusiasm.

About Sheryl Hartney

Sheryl Hartney is the president and founder of That First Impression. She has successfully integrated her background in design and marketing in both the fashion world and the corporate realm.

Sheryl understands that marketing a house is just like marketing anything else: presentation and packaging are everything!

In a highly competitive marketplace, she knows how to assist a homeowner in showcasing their property to its fullest potential and thereby gaining top dollar with a minimal investment.

The homeowner in today’s marketplace cannot afford a “sell as is” mentality. If you don’t want to fix something in your home, you can rest assured that a potential buyer won’t want to either. The dollar cost of using home staging is always far less than that first price reduction a seller may have to take.

Sheryl’s clients say they appreciate her unbiased honesty seasoned with supportive understanding when assessing their homes. Many times she has had to tell a homeowner what the realtors couldn’t. She frequently will be heard saying, “You are paying me to tell you what you need to do to sell your home quickly and for top dollar, not necessarily what you want to hear.”

Home Staging

The process of home staging begins with the consultation.

That First Impression will do a comprehensive walk through and evaluation of the home beginning at the entryway. Suggestions will be made and discussed with the homeowner.

Following this initial consultation, the seller will have three options:

  • They can take the recommendations and make whatever improvements they choose by themselves.
  • That First Impression can complete the staging process for them.
  • Or, the process can be shared between the client and That First Impression, according to time and budget available.

Interior Redesign

This involves changing a room using the homeowner’s own furniture and accessories. By rearranging, eliminating or adding furniture and properly placing accessories, a new, well designed room evolves. Many times this process can be accomplished in only a matter of hours.

Homeowners are usually amazed with the results. One client commented, “I always hated this room, but now it is my favorite place to be in the whole house!”

    Home Office Staging

    Before

    Home Stager Before Photo

    After

    Home Stager After Photo

This home office spelled disaster. The computer armoire was ill-placed, too many accessories, and lots of clutter. After rearranging the furniture and a major de-cluttering, the office feels more spacious and functions properly.

    Bathroom Staging

    Before

    After

    Home Stager After Photo

Before this master bathroom was sterile and chaotic. By de-cluttering, adding an inexpensive window treatment, artwork and accessories, it now feels spa like and tranquil.

    Family Room Staging

    Before

    Home Stager Before Photo

    After

    Home Stager After Photo

This family room was a hodgepodge of mismatched furniture and lacked design. By replacing most of the furniture with an inexpensive sectional, rearranging the remaining furniture and properly accessorizing, the room is now warm and inviting.
